Drone photography & video in Dublin, Ohio

Dublin aerials center on the Scioto River, where Bridge Park and Historic Dublin face each other across the Dublin Link footbridge, and on the office campuses that house more than 20 corporate headquarters. Most of the city's east side sits inside the Class D airspace of Ohio State's Don Scott Airport, so LAANC is part of nearly every downtown flight.

Flying in Dublin

FAA data puts Bridge Park, Historic Dublin, the Scioto riverfront and the office districts around them inside the surface Class D of Ohio State University's Don Scott Airport (OSU), with LAANC grids from 150 to 400 feet. The city's west and north sides, including Muirfield Village Golf Club, are Class G at the surface.

  • Don Scott Airport (OSU) is about 2 nautical miles southeast of Bridge Park. Its Class D reaches the surface over the eastern and central parts of Dublin, so a Part 107 flight there needs LAANC or other FAA authorization.
  • Facility map ceilings vary block by block. We found 300 feet at Bridge Park, 150 feet at the Dublin Link and in Historic Dublin, 400 feet around Cardinal Place and Kilgour Place, 200 feet at Coffman Park and Ballantrae Community Park and 400 feet at Dublin Coffman High School.
  • Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin Methodist Hospital and Darree Fields returned Class G at the surface with no grid, under Class E starting 700 feet above the ground.
  • John Glenn Columbus International (CMH) is about 12 nautical miles to the southeast, and its Class C did not appear at any Dublin point we checked.
  • Dublin Police fly autonomous drones from four rooftop docks, at City Hall, Scioto High School, Grizzell Middle School and the Washington Township Fire Department administration building, each with a 3-mile range covering the whole city. We keep well clear of police drones and active scenes.
  • We check B4UFLY or a LAANC app and current NOTAMs on the day of every flight, because airspace and temporary restrictions change.

What Dublin businesses film from the air

Dublin’s newest district straddles the Scioto River. The city describes Bridge Park as a 30-acre, multi-phase, mixed-use development built through a partnership with developer Crawford Hoying that began in 2015, and it calls the Dublin Link, the footbridge connecting Bridge Park on the east bank with Historic Dublin on the west, the longest single-tower, S-shaped suspension bridge in the world, according to its history of Dublin firsts. Apartments, offices, restaurants and hotels there sell on that river setting, and aerial video shows how the two banks connect better than any ground angle.

The rest of the city is corporate. Dublin says it is home to more than 20 corporate headquarters and lists Cardinal Health, the Wendy’s Company and OCLC among the companies based there, in its city profile. Those campuses, the office corridors around them and the golf communities near Muirfield Village are the other main subjects for leasing, recruiting and investor material.

Dublin is mostly in Franklin County, with sections in Delaware and Union counties, as the city’s emergency preparedness page notes.

Inside Ohio State’s Class D

The airport that shapes Dublin flights is Ohio State University’s Don Scott Airport (OSU), about 2 nautical miles southeast of Bridge Park. FAA Class Airspace data shows its Class D reaching the surface over the east and center of the city, including Bridge Park, Historic Dublin, the Scioto riverfront and the office districts along the river. Those flights need LAANC.

The facility map ceilings change within a few blocks. We found 300 feet at Bridge Park and 150 feet at the Dublin Link and in Historic Dublin, so a low pass over the bridge can be approved while a high wide shot from the same spot cannot. Around Cardinal Place and Kilgour Place the grid rises to 400 feet. On the west and north sides, at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin Methodist Hospital and Darree Fields, the airspace is Class G at the surface and no LAANC is needed.

Dublin also has drones of its own in the air. The police department’s drone program launches autonomous aircraft from four rooftop docks to emergency calls anywhere in the city. Under Ohio Revised Code 4561.51, flying in a way that disrupts police, fire or EMS work is an offense, so we stand down if an incident is under way near a shoot.

Parks, events and the Memorial

Ohio Revised Code 4561.52 lets cities regulate hobby drone flights over parks they own. We did not find a published drone permit process on Dublin’s website, so commercial launches from city parks start with a call to the city. The city’s Independence Day page lists drones as prohibited at the Dublin Coffman High School stadium event and says the fireworks may be canceled if one is present.

The Memorial Tournament is Dublin’s biggest week. The city says the 2027 tournament runs May 31 to June 6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club. The FAA’s stadium restriction covers MLB, NFL, NCAA Division I football and major auto races, not golf, but the club is private and the crowds are large. We fly the course only with approval and check NOTAMs that week.

Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, which runs Glacier Ridge Metro Park northwest of the city, requires a permit for commercial drone work, according to its FAQ page.

Light and seasons

The Scioto runs roughly north to south through Dublin, so Bridge Park’s riverfront buildings face west across the water toward Historic Dublin. Late afternoon light falls on that east bank, and dusk lights up the Dublin Link. Glass office campuses read best in clean morning or late-day light. For golf communities, late spring and early fall give green fairways without tournament-week traffic.

Planning a Dublin shoot

Send the address, date window and deliverables. We check the OSU grid, city and park rules, the Memorial calendar and landowner permission before we quote. In October 2026 we flew tourism aerials in neighboring Delaware County; see our Delaware drone page and Columbus drone page, our Ohio drone laws guide, our drone photography and commercial real estate aerial services, or contact us to start.

Permissions

Where to launch in Dublin

We handle permissions and permits as part of every quote.

City parks

Ohio Revised Code 4561.52 lets cities regulate hobby drone flights over parks they own, and a city controls who uses its land for commercial work. We did not find a published drone or film permit process on Dublin's website, so we ask the city before launching from park land and otherwise launch from private property with the owner's permission.

City events

Dublin lists drones among prohibited items at its Independence Day celebration at Dublin Coffman High School stadium and warns the fireworks may be canceled if a drone is present. We do not fly city events without the city's approval.

Muirfield Village and the Memorial

The Memorial Tournament returns to Muirfield Village Golf Club May 31 to June 6, 2027. Golf is not on the FAA's list of events under the standing stadium restriction, which covers MLB, NFL, NCAA Division I football and major auto races, but the club is private and tournament week brings crowds and road changes. Any flight there needs the club's or tournament's approval, and we check NOTAMs for that week.

Metro Parks

Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, which runs Glacier Ridge Metro Park northwest of the city, requires a permit for commercial or media drone photography, requested first by email. Recreational flying is at ranger discretion and is not allowed in state nature preserves.

FAQ

Drone questions in Dublin

Do you need LAANC to fly a drone in Bridge Park or Historic Dublin?
Yes. FAA data puts both inside the surface Class D of Ohio State's Don Scott Airport. The facility map allows LAANC approvals up to 300 feet at Bridge Park and 150 feet at the Dublin Link and in Historic Dublin, so we request authorization before the flight.
Is there a drone restriction during the Memorial Tournament?
The FAA's standing stadium restriction does not cover golf. Muirfield Village Golf Club is private property and tournament week brings large crowds, so any flight needs approval from the club or tournament, and we check NOTAMs for temporary restrictions that week.
Which county is Dublin, Ohio in?
Mostly Franklin County, with parts in Delaware and Union counties. The city says Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security serves all of Dublin, including residents in the Delaware and Union county sections.
Can you fly a drone in Dublin city parks?
Ohio law lets cities regulate hobby drone flights over the parks they own, and commercial use of city land needs the city's permission. We did not find a published drone permit process on the city's website, so we contact the city before any park launch and otherwise launch from private property with permission.
Do you have drone pilots in Dublin, Ohio?
Our office is in Detroit, and we work with a network of crew and creator contacts across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Windsor. Our FAA Part 107 pilots travel from the Detroit studio, about 181 miles from Bridge Park by road. Our published starting prices apply: aerial photo from $450, aerial video from $1,500 and FPV fly-through from $2,500, with travel quoted with the project.
