Editorial method
How we check our facts
The guides on this site are written by the people who run RAW Digital Group, sourced to first-party documents, and re-checked on a schedule. Here is the method, and where our business interest sits.
RAW Digital Group writes its guides from first-party sources (FAA airspace data, city ordinances and permit pages, state law, platform newsrooms and help centers), links every number inline to where it came from, re-checks living pages on a schedule and says plainly that it is a Detroit marketing agency that sells the services the guides describe.
Updated October 2026.
Who writes and who checks
Guides are written by Shawn Mangenje and Paige Pope, the people who run the company, under their own names. Each guide shows its author, its publish date and, where one has happened, its last update. Drone and airspace pages are written and checked by the FAA Part 107 certified pilots who fly for us.
Where the facts come from
- Airspace and drone rules: FAA Class Airspace data, the FAA UAS facility maps, FAA national security and stadium restriction notices, state statutes, and park, campus and city rules read on their own sites. Our Michigan drone airspace study covers 66 city pages this way, and every row links to the page with the full check.
- Permits and incentives: the issuing office's own application, fee schedule or statute, with the date we read it.
- Platform changes: the platform's own newsroom, creator blog or help center. Secondary coverage can point us to a change, but it is not the source we cite.
- Prices and market ranges: named published rate cards and pricing guides, labeled as published ranges, not our rates. Our own prices appear only on our drone pages.
Numbers are linked where they appear, not in a footer. Where a figure comes from a company that sells the thing it is measuring, we aim to say so next to it, and we fix it when we have missed one.
How often pages are re-checked
- Living trackers (7 guides, such as the social media changes tracker and the state drone law pages) are re-checked regularly and after major platform or FAA announcements. Each carries a dated "what changed" log, and readers can sign up for an email when one changes.
- Original research (the airspace study and the game-day drone calendar) is refreshed when the underlying data changes and reviewed in full at least once a year.
- Service and city pages show their updated date, and we review them on a rolling basis.
When a fact changes, we change the page and the date on it. We do not leave old guidance standing with a new date.
Our business interest, stated
RAW Digital Group is a marketing, video and drone company. The guides exist because buyers ask these questions, and we would rather answer them in full than in a sales pitch. That interest shapes what we cover, so three rules apply:
- Guides never rank RAW Digital Group against other companies, and no page on this site is a "best agencies" list with us at the top.
- Where a guide compares options, it names real alternatives and says when another kind of provider is the better fit, such as inspection or mapping work we do not do.
- Nothing on this site is paid placement, and clients are named only where we did the work and have their permission. Results we publish are the client's own numbers or publicly posted figures.
What we do not do
We do not invent statistics, cite our own marketing as research, publish turnaround or response-time promises, or run mass-produced city pages. A city page exists only where we have checked that city's airspace and rules ourselves.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us with the page and the source. Corrections that change the guidance are noted in the page's change log.
Not legal advice
Drone, permit and advertising rules change and vary by site. Our guides are general information for planning; confirm the current rule with the FAA, the permit office or your counsel before you rely on it.
